Oscar Nominee Amy Adams Will Go Into the Woods This Summer

Three-time Academy Award-nominated actress Amy Adams, who showed her deft touch with musical numbers in the films “Enchanted” and “The Muppets,” will play The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods in The Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park season in Central Park.

Adams, who earned Oscar nominations for the films “Junebug,” “Doubt” and “The Fighter,” joins the previously announced Jack Broderick (Narrator), Gideon Glick (Jack), Cooper Grodin (Rapunzel’s Prince), Ivan Hernandez (Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf), Tina Johnson (Granny), Josh Lamon (Steward), Jessie Mueller (Cinderella), Laura Shoop (Cinderella’s Mother) and Tess Soltau (Rapunzel).

The outdoor summer production of the 1987 musical by Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and James Lapine (book) runs July 23-Aug. 25. Opening night is Aug. 9.

This is the most exciting news I’ve heard all year! So let me get this straight, you just show up the day of and get tickets for free? That’s it?

Yes please do that would be much appreciated. Definitely want to get all the info before I make the long trip to New York, but there is no way I’m missing this. What do you think the chances are of being able to actually meet her?
