Amy Adams going to Dark Places

Deadline reports that Adams will play the lead in Dark Places, a story about a young girl in Kansas who survives a massacre of her family, testifies against her brother as the murderer, and is visited 25 years later by a secret society that claims her brother is innocent. Somehow, reliving the incident is the only way to find out the real truth.

The film will be written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner, who made waves with his WWII-era film Sarah’s Key back in 2010. Dark Places is based on Gillian Flynn’s best-selling 2009 novel, and has elements of the Satanic cult scare that tore through America in the 1980s.
