The LA Times has an interesting article about the Oscars. Predicting Amy Adams could go as far as pull off an ‘upset’ and win over the highly favored Penélope Cruz right now (coming off the Bafta win, no Winslet in supporting category, etc). I found it interesting and being huge fans of both Amy Adams and Penélope Cruz and found both performers in that category at their very best and I go back and fourth as to who I want to win. Either way, I’m sure I’ll be happy with the results but we shall see come Oscar night, February 22!

February 8th was the 2009 BAFTA Awards in London, I was offline most of this weekend and unable to bring you an update but now here we go!
Miss Adams was nominated for supporting actress in Doubt, but lost out to Penélope Cruz. She presented best adapted screenplay to Slumdog Millionaire a little later on that evening. While at the award show, Amy was a vision despite being drenched by the cold rainy weather and the red carpet that wasn’t tented. In an interview (which can be streamed here) Amy said her favorite films of last year was Slumdog, The Wrestler and Wendy and Lucy.
At the ceremony, which also marked Amy’s first time at the BAFTA’s, she wore an electric blue mermaid gown by Roland Mouret. In the gallery you can view pictures and screencaps of Amy from the show (clip to follow shortly.)
The night before Amy also attended the nominees party. There she dawned a silver dress with an an asymmetrical hem, and an overshot shoulder, which she opted to fold down, again by Roland Mouret. Her look was completed by black peep-toes, and a satin clutch. Pictures from that event and candids from afterward are uploaded too. Enjoy!
