Variety is reporting that Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are in discussions to star in fashion designer Tom Ford’s thriller “Nocturnal Animals,” his second film as a director after 2009’s “A Single Man.”
This is in the early days as no financial offers have been made yet but insiders say it is headed in that direction, with Ford writing and directing, also producing along George Clooney through his Smokehouse Pictures banner.
Nocturnal Animals is based on the novel by Austin Wright titled Tony and Susan. The plot is described as a story inside a story, with the first part following a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. The second element follows the actual manuscript, called Nocturnal Animals, which revolves around a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly. It also continues to follow the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself.
Sources say actors were immediately drawn to the project when the script hit the market, and Adams aggressively pursued the part, as she was interested in the part of Susan, with Gyllenhaal pushing hard for the male lead.
After seven years, it seems Enchanted sequel is a go. Deadline is reporting that Disney hired writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to write Enchanted 2.
Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is at the helm of the sequel, which will be produced again by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld. An earlier draft was written by Jessie Nelson.
There’s no word yet on which cast members are expected back – or IF any of original cast members will be back. Amy has been rumored for coming back as Giselle when Nelson was writing the script, but this seems to be forgotten… until now.
What do you think about the sequel?
I’ve posted a while ago about this project, and at that time it was just a rumor. Well, it seems now it’s confirmed.
It surfaced today some news regarding Rooney Mara replacing Carey Mulligan on this picture, and Amy is being listed as confirmed cast. With her, Joaquin Phoenix and Samantha Morton. It will be the first time of Amy working with Jonze.
The actual plot isn’t known, but it’s reportedly a satire about world leaders who gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the world, from oil prices to wars that will be waged.
