Amy Adams Circling Adam McKay’s Dick Cheney Biopic

After diving into the economic crisis of 2008, The Big Short’s Adam McKay is taking aim at one of Washington’s most polarizing figures.

Sources tell Variety that Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Amy Adams are in talks to star in McKay’s untitled Dick Cheney biopic for Paramount. Sources say Bale is on board to play the former vice president, Carell would portray Donald Rumsfeld, and Adams would play Lynne Cheney.

McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions and Brad Pitt’s Plan B is on board to produce.

Amy and Jake Gyllenhaal in Talks for ‘Nocturnal Animals’

Variety is reporting that Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are in discussions to star in fashion designer Tom Ford’s thriller “Nocturnal Animals,” his second film as a director after 2009’s “A Single Man.”

This is in the early days as no financial offers have been made yet but insiders say it is headed in that direction, with Ford writing and directing, also producing along George Clooney through his Smokehouse Pictures banner.

Nocturnal Animals is based on the novel by Austin Wright titled Tony and Susan. The plot is described as a story inside a story, with the first part following a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. The second element follows the actual manuscript, called Nocturnal Animals, which revolves around a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly. It also continues to follow the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself.

Sources say actors were immediately drawn to the project when the script hit the market, and Adams aggressively pursued the part, as she was interested in the part of Susan, with Gyllenhaal pushing hard for the male lead.

“Enchanted 2” it’s on the way!

After seven years, it seems Enchanted sequel is a go. Deadline is reporting that Disney hired writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to write Enchanted 2.

Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is at the helm of the sequel, which will be produced again by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld. An earlier draft was written by Jessie Nelson.

There’s no word yet on which cast members are expected back – or IF any of original cast members will be back. Amy has been rumored for coming back as Giselle when Nelson was writing the script, but this seems to be forgotten… until now.

What do you think about the sequel?

“Untitled Spike Jonze Romance” Update

I’ve posted a while ago about this project, and at that time it was just a rumor. Well, it seems now it’s confirmed.

It surfaced today some news regarding Rooney Mara replacing Carey Mulligan on this picture, and Amy is being listed as confirmed cast. With her, Joaquin Phoenix and Samantha Morton. It will be the first time of Amy working with Jonze.

The actual plot isn’t known, but it’s reportedly a satire about world leaders who gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the world, from oil prices to wars that will be waged.

Another rumoured project: “The Thin Man”

This was announced by Deadline:

EXCLUSIVE: Rob Marshall next week begins meetings to find who’ll play Nora in the Billy Ray-scripted Warner Bros remake of The Thin Man. Here are the named I’m hearing who are interested in cavorting with Johnny Depp, who’ll play the tipsy socialite-turned-sleuth Nick Charles: Eva Green, Amy Adams, Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan, Rachel Weisz, Kristen Wiig, Emily Blunt and Isla Fisher.

The Thin Man is a 1934 American comic detective film starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a flirtatious married couple who banter wittily as they solve crimes with ease. Nick is a hard-drinking retired detective and Nora a wealthy heiress.

Amy Adams Circle Spike Jonze Film

Samantha Morton, Amy Adams and Carey Mulligan are in discussions to star with Joaquin Phoenix in the untitled project that Spike Jonze will direct, with a script by his Being John Malkovich and Adaptation scribe Charlie Kaufman. It’s very difficult to get any confirmation on the project because the filmmaker is secretive as is the financier, Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures. Deadline was first to reveal the project when it was shopped early last year to financiers and Ellison took it off the table.

The film is a satire about how world leaders gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the worlds, from oil prices to wars that will be waged.
